Summary

Know Your Vets Act

This bill directs the Department of Defense (DOD) to:

  • ensure that a separating or retiring member of the Armed Forces may elect to have DOD form DD-214 transmitted to the appropriate county veterans service officers who are county, local, or tribal employees who assist veterans with Department of Veterans Affairs interactions; and
  • maintain a database of all such officers.

Form DD 214 contains a member's record of service and information that may be used for veteran's benefits, retirement, employment, and veteran's organization membership.
