Mrs. Carolyn B. Maloney of New York (for herself and Mr. Pascrell) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary


A BILL

To reinstate the final rule issued by the Social Security Administration entitled “Implementation of the NICS Improvement Amendments Act of 2007”.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. Short title.

This Act may be cited as the “Strengthening the National Instant Criminal Background Check System Act of 2018”.

SEC. 2. Reinstatement of rule.

Notwithstanding Public Law 115–8 and chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, the final rule issued by the Social Security Administration entitled “Implementation of the NICS Improvement Amendments Act of 2007” (published at 81 Fed. Reg. 91702 (December 19, 2016)) shall be deemed to have force and effect as of the date of the enactment of this Act.
