Mr. Bacon introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Armed Services


A BILL

To modify and extend the temporary authority of the President to modify certain contracts and options based on the impacts of inflation, and for other purposes.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. Short title.

This Act may be cited as the “Defense Contract Inflation Adjustment Act of 2023”.

SEC. 2. Modification and extension of temporary authority to modify certain contracts and options based on the impacts of inflation.

Section 1 of Public Law 85–804 (50 U.S.C. 1431) is amended—

(1) in subsection (b), by adding at the end the following new sentence: “If any such amounts are so specifically provided, the Secretary may use them for such purposes.”; and

(2) in subsection (e), by striking “December 31, 2023” and inserting “December 31, 2024”.
