IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES

Mr. Portman (for himself and Mr. Brown) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the Committee on Environment and Public Works


A BILL

To amend the River and Harbor Act of 1958 to improve provisions relating to invasive species management, and for other purposes.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. Short title.

This Act may be cited as the “Aquatic Invasive Species Control Act”.

SEC. 2. Invasive species management.

Section 104 of the River and Harbor Act of 1958 (33 U.S.C. 610) is amended—

(1) in subsection (b)(2)(A)(ii)—

(A) by striking “$50,000,000” and inserting “$75,000,000”; and

(B) by striking “2024” and inserting “2028”; and

(2) in subsection (g)(2)—

(A) in subparagraph (A)—

(i) by striking “water quantity or water quality” and inserting “water quantity, water quality, or ecosystems”; and

(ii) by inserting “the Lake Erie Basin, the Ohio River Basin,” after “the Upper Snake River Basin,”; and

(B) in subparagraph (B), by inserting “, hydrilla (Hydrilla verticillata),” after “angustifolia)”.
