Summary

Department of Defense Check Before You Rent Act

This bill requires a military department, before leasing or acquiring new property, to certify that it evaluated the feasibility of using space under the jurisdiction of the Department of Defense (DOD) and determined that: (1) such space is not reasonably available, (2) acquiring or leasing the new property would be more cost effective than the use of the DOD property, or (3) the use of the DOD property would interfere with the ongoing military mission of the property.
