Mr. Ruiz introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Armed Services


A BILL

To direct the Comptroller General of the United States to draft a report identifying reasons for the low number of Hispanic cadets and midshipmen at the military service academies, and recommendations to increase such numbers.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. Short title.

This Act may be cited as the “Military Service Academy Hispanic Representation Act”.

SEC. 2. GAO report on low number of Hispanic cadets and midshipmen in the military service academies.

Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Comptroller General of the United States shall submit to the Committees on Armed Services of the Senate and House of Representatives a report containing the result of a study regarding—

(1) the reasons for the low number of Hispanic cadets and midshipmen at the military service academies; and

(2) recommendations to increase such numbers.
